"Book an Adventure” Shire President Matt Niikkula shared the magic of reading during Book Week 2025

Teddy Bears, rainbow tutu’s and a furry fox met on the grassy slope of Osprey Gardens in Exmouth this week for an epic adventure through the pages of grass, tunnels, mud and jungle.

Led by Shire President Matt Niikkula, the teddy bears picnic was a part of Bookweek 2025, an annual celebration of reading and the power of storytelling.

The Shire of Exmouth proudly hosted Bookweek events at the library for children across different ages, transporting kids on adventures of a lifetime through the pages of their favourite stories new and old.

Bookweek is more than story times and character dress ups, providing an opening into the world of literature and the power of reading to take you to new places beyond your imagination. It is important to show young readers the power of words and encourage their curiosity to read.

The Shire of Exmouth Library has become a growing hub for community connection, hosting weekly story times and bringing young community members together through a range of programs across age groups.

Young minds are opened to the possibilities beyond through pages of books with new loans increasing through Bookweek and other events within the library space. The Shire looks forward to continuing to enable the joy of reading with more young minds.

COMMENTS ATTRIBUTED TO THE SHIRE – SHIRE PRESIDENT MATT NIIKKULA

It’s important that we spend time nurturing our future generation. Our Library offers a great range of services, and it’s always a pleasure to spend time connecting with our young kids and parents, over a great story.
