Australian Defence Force personnel will be conducting a live fire military training exercise in the Learmonth Air Weapons Range, Exmouth, during 8–9 October 2024.Defence will close the coastal track through the Learmonth Air Weapons Range from 8-9 October for the safety of the community and the members on exercise. This also includes restricting access to Sandy Point Wells.
Australian Defence Force personnel will be posted at the east-west road approaches of the Learmonth Air Weapons Range to prevent access. Red range flags will be in place at the north-south track to Sandy Point Well 2 to indicate that the range is active, and that a live fire activity is taking place.Members of the public must not proceed beyond the red range flags, or any fence line bounding the Learmonth Air Weapons Range.During this period you may hear and see military vehicles, as well as military personnel carrying weapons and using live ammunition. You should not be alarmed, as this is part of routine Defence training.The Australian Defence Force is working closely with the Western Australia Government, Shire of Exmouth, Western Australia Police Force and other emergency services as part of this military training activity.
