Social Media Engagement Guidelines
We welcome comments and conversation on Shire of Exmouth social media pages. These channels help us share updates, celebrate community stories, and hear what matters to you.
To keep things respectful and inclusive for everyone, we ask that all visitors follow a few simple guidelines. This helps make sure our social media is a space where everyone has the opportunity to belong.
When to contact us directly:
While we do our best to read comments and join the conversation where we can, social media isn’t a formal way to contact the Shire of Exmouth.

Our pages are monitored Monday to Friday during business hours. We aim to respond within a reasonable time period.
When you post or comment
We ask that you:
- Keep it respectful, kind and constructive
- Avoid posting personal contact information
- Reach out offline for serious or sensitive matters
- Understand that comments are the views of the individual and not the Shire of Exmouth
- Follow:
Moderation and content removal:
We want everyone to feel safe participating, so we may remove posts or comments at any time, without notice, if they:
- Promote or encourage unlawful behaviour.
- Use inappropriate, violent, obscene, profane or hateful language.
- Contain discriminatory, harassing, or bullying content.
- Include defamatory or threatening statements.
- Breach copyright or intellectual property rights.
- Compromise public safety or an individual’s privacy.
- Promote or advertise products, services, or political candidates.
- Contain repeated or off-topic posts.
- Personal comments about other people, staff or elected members.
- Or other comments deemed to be inappropriate.
We may hide or delete posts without notice if they breach these guidelines. Repeat breaches may result in users being blocked from our pages.
Comments may also be turned off during non-monitored hours at the Shire's discretion.
Content ownership:
Posts, photos and videos created by the Shire of Exmouth remain the property of the Shire. They must not be reused or reproduced without written permission.
