Council runs the citizenship ceremonies on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs. They are an opportunity for all Australians, whether they are citizens by birth or by choice, to come together to acknowledge what’s great about being Australian.

The conferees from 7 countries, including UK, New Zealand, Indonesia, Estonia, Thailand, Japan and the USA, received their citizenship during a ceremony at the Exmouth Ningaloo Centre.

COMMENTS ATTRIBUTED TO THE SHIRE – SHIRE PRESIDENT MATT NIIKKULA

“Performing the citizenship ceremony every three months is without a doubt my favourite task as Shire President. With more than 35% of permanent residents born overseas, Exmouth is a great testament to a multicultural Western Australia and welcoming these diverse conferees is unparalleled. The ceremony is the final step to becoming an Australian citizen, and there is no greater privilege than our citizenship. It’s a life-long commitment to Australia’s values of freedom, democracy, equality and respect.”
