Exmouth artists - we want you!

Community members across the Shire are asked to show what the Shire of Exmouth means to them for this year’s ShoWcAse in Pixels Competition.

The annual exhibition of artwork from Local Governments will be displayed on the iconic 45-metre high digital tower at the heart of Yagan Square in Perth City. This format of the display means participants are no longer restricted to PVC canvas and creativity is encouraged.

Exmouth community members are encouraged to submit an art piece for the opportunity to represent the Shire as the official 2022 Showcase in Pixels submission.

This is the first year video submissions are being accepted as part of the competition.
The competition has categories open to primary and high schools, community groups and professional digital artists.

  • Junior primary school(s)(Pre-primary - Year 3)
  • Upper primary school(s) (Year 4-6)
  • Secondary school(s) (Year 7-12)
  • Community group(s) / Non-Professional
  • Professional / Digital

Your design should be unique, bold, fun and reflect the following:

  • Relation to the convention theme: embracing change.
  • Identification of place: it must include the name of EXMOUTH clearly.
  • Place: connection to Exmouth. What in the artwork identifies it as Exmouth? For example, the waterways that form the Exmouth Marina, the coastline, native wildlife, flora & fauna of the Cape Range Nationalpark & Marine Park, the Vlamingh Head Lighthouse.

Artwork must encompass the Shire in its entirety and can be submitted via the Shire of Exmouth website (photo or scan of physical artwork, video or digital artwork).

Shire of Exmouth President Darlene Allston encouraged residents to submit their artwork for the chance to represent the Shire in the competition and be showcased at Yagan Square.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase what makes our Shire such a great place to live, so I encourage artists of all ages to have a go at creating an artwork for submission or pick a favourite that would fit into one of the many exciting categories.”

The artwork will be displayed in Yagan Square from Monday, 19 September – Sunday, 9 October* at 12:00pm each day
    (*subject to change)

Submissions will close at 11.59 PM on Tuesday, August 30.

The Shire of Exmouth Executive Leadership team will then select one artwork overall that will be submitted on behalf of the Shire.
