Volunteer opportunities open for Ningaloo Eclipse

Volunteer applications have officially opened giving people the opportunity to be part of Exmouth’s once-in-a-lifetime Total Solar Eclipse event.

The Shire of Exmouth is accepting applications for various volunteer roles associated with the event and locals and travellers alike are being urged to take part in the historic occasion.

Event planning is well underway to deliver a stellar event for the astronomical phenomenon which is set to attract up to 25,000 star gazers to the region in April.

The Shire has been working closely with Tourism Western Australia, and the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) to deliver an unforgettable experience for event-goers.

“To ensure the best experience possible, we are looking for volunteers to help us with all facets of the event. Volunteers joining our Eclipse Crew will be part of one of Western Australia’s most memorable events. I hope our local community will embrace the opportunity to help deliver an event that will have so many positive flow on effects to Exmouth and the region. This is also a great opportunity for travellers from all over to come and experience Exmouth at a time where securing accommodation is difficult.” Shire President Darlene Allston

Not only will volunteers get access to in-demand events, a volunteer pack, and the opportunity to experience Exmouth during peak season, but they will also get a free campsite for the duration of their volunteering role.

Opportunities to volunteer will be available from 23 March through to 5 May 2023 with volunteers needing to commit to five hours a day over a five-day period.

Volunteer positions range from roles in logistics, day-to-day event operations, campsite hosts, first aid, marshalling, hospitality and more. Once the volunteer form is received with relevant information, the Shire will assess the best fit and assign roles.

Exmouth lies directly within the path of totality for the Eclipse, which will take place on 20 April 2023.
