THE SHIRE OF EXMOUTH SHOWS ITS GRATITUDE ON INTERNATIONAL THANK A VOLUNTEER DAY

In 1985, the United Nations General Assembly adopted The International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development. Since then, the International Thank a Volunteer movement has grown, and the tireless work of volunteers is celebrated every December 5 in more than 80 countries.

On December 5 from 5 - 7:30 pm, the Shire of Exmouth will honour the unwavering work of the community's volunteers and firefighters with a dinner at the Exmouth Yacht Club.

In January 2024, the Shire of Exmouth will host the Community Citizen of the Year awards to acknowledge the impact of one hard-working community member. We invite all Community Citizen of the Year nominees to the Thank a Volunteer dinner to recognise their contributions to the community ahead of the awards ceremony.

This year, to share our immense gratitude to those fighting the bushfires raging through the West Pilbara region, we invite members of the Exmouth Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Exmouth Bushfire Brigade, as well as Raytheon Fire Fighters, and Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) Rangers to attend the Thank a Volunteer dinner.

Volunteers, firefighters, and Community Citizen of the Year nominees are invited to register for free here

COMMENTS ATTRIBUTED TO THE SHIRE – SHIRE PRESIDENT MATT NIIKKULA

"Throughout the year, Exmouth's community members volunteer their time and talents to enhance our town's social, cultural, economic and environmental well-being. Exmouth's Thank a Volunteer Day celebration will recognise the tireless work of our community's volunteers and express our gratitude for their positive impact on our community."

"Volunteers are the unsung heroes of Exmouth. Whether bravely fighting bushfires or consistently showing up to give time, talents, or money, our community is a better, safer place because of each of our volunteers. Thank a Volunteer Day is a small token of our immense gratitude to each and every one of them."
