Engineering Labourers (Pool)

The Shire of Exmouth is seeking Engineering Labourers to join the team on a permanent full-time basis. 

Reporting to the Manager Works this position is responsible for working within a small team environment to ensure that operations and maintenance activities within the engineering portfolio are delivered in accordance with specifications, plans and safety documentation.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have a Medium Rigid (MR) licence, a minimum of 2 years of experience on a variety of civil construction machinery, competency tickets for light and heavy plant and experience in handling of horticulture equipment.  If you enjoy working in an outdoor environment and contributing towards ensuring a vibrant town we would like to hear from you. 

The position is classified as Level 5 under the Shire of Exmouth Enterprise Agreement 2017.

Waste Site Attendant (Pool)

The Shire of Exmouth is seeking a Waste Site Attendant to join the team on a permanent full-time basis.

We are a vibrant local government with a passion for keeping our environment pristine. This role would suit someone who shares our interest in waste management and sustainability.  

Reporting to the Manager Works, the Waste Site Attendant will be required to promote waste-sustainable activities including Recycling, Reuse, Recovery and Repair and champion the reduction of waste within the Shire of Exmouth. 

This is a hands-on role that will ensure the day-to-day operations across the Shire’s landfill operations and Bring it Centre.  The role includes the operation of plant and equipment and is responsible for delivering a high level of customer service including receipting of monies for the waste facility in accordance with Shire procedures. 

Demonstrated experience in the operation of heavy plant and machinery in a waste management environment and a current “HR” class driver’s licence will be highly regarded. 

The position is classified as Level 5 under the Shire of Exmouth Enterprise Agreement 2017.

Aviation Officers - (Pool)

Learmonth Airport is currently undergoing a significant ramp-up of the RPT and helicopter services to support the oil and gas industry. The Shire has a number of vacancies to fill the position of Aviation Officer. The position will be considered on a full-time, part-time casual subject to resourcing, scheduling and rostering.

The is a hands-on role at Learmonth Airport performing security functions which may include, but are not limited to maintaining secure areas, advising airport users of correct security procedures and screening of passenger baggage in accordance with Aviation regulations.

The Aviation Officer role will suit local candidates that have a strong customer service background, ability to follow procedures, excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Candidates must be able to meet the following requirements which include, but are not limited to:

• Ability to obtain and hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC);

The position is classified as Level 5 under the Shire of Exmouth Enterprise Agreement 2017. Weekend and public holiday work will be required and attract penalty rates. In addition, a Learmonth Airport Industry Allowance will apply based on a range of skills and competencies.

The Role
Reporting to the Manager Community Emergency Services the Ranger will provide high quality customer service to the Shire’s residents and visitors while enforcing statutory requirements to achieve compliance with various Acts, Local Laws and Council Policies, whilst also taking a proactive role in educating the community.

Responsibilities
The Ranger will also be accountable for the following activities:
• To provide the Shire of Exmouth community and visitors with a high quality, community focused Ranger Service achieving positive community outcomes.
• To provide education and enforcement of relevant State legislation and the Shire of Exmouth Local Laws, Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications and Skills
• The Ranger will participate in the development and delivery of community education and awareness so should have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate competency in investigative skills around ranger related legislation.
• Ideally, the successful applicant will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Ranger Services, compliance enforcement or a related field and completion of Regulatory Officer and Compliance Skills 1 and 2 (or a substantial progression of relevant studies).
• Qualifications in Emergency Management or similar will be highly regarded.
• A current “C” class driver’s licence and the ability to work over peak periods including school holidays in addition to some weekend and public holiday work.

COORDINATOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The Shire of Exmouth is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Coordinator Community Development to join our team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Manager Community and Emergency Services, the Coordinator Community Development is responsible for the development and delivery of the Shire of Exmouth’s community objectives.

In this role, you will be accountable for the following:
• Prepare, implement, and maintain engagement and communications strategies for community development projects.
• Develop, deliver, and review Shire strategic/policy documents to contribute to the development and delivery of the strategic community plan.
• Strengthen support and develop local community organisations and clubs through the application of community development principles.
• Coordinate and work in partnership with key stakeholders in the planning, development, and implementation of community and cultural events, projects, programs, services, sporting, and recreational facilities.
• Coordinate and administer the Shire’s community grants program in line with current policies and procedures and provide information, guidance and support to local community groups and clubs regarding grant opportunities.
• Proactively promote and enhance Council’s role, services, and image in the community, delivering a highly professional, and customer focused Community Development service.
• Coordinate the development and delivery of information through newsletters, press releases, website, and event calendars to community members and groups and apply sound community consultation and participation mechanisms. Represent Council at various meetings with government agencies, the community, and other stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in community development or relevant demonstrated experience in a similar role. You will have developed knowledge of community program and policy development, coordination, and evaluation. You will possess demonstrated experience in sourcing community grant funding, writing of applications and acquittals. This will be a busy role through management of community development projects and groups as well as relevant staff; you will possess good organisational and time management skills with the ability to establish priorities, manage workloads, and identify when to reschedule and reorganise work to reflect changes in priority.

Information Communications Technology Officer 

The Shire of Exmouth is seeking an innovative and passionate Information Communications Technology (ICT) Officer to join our team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Coordinator Communications, this role provides Information Communications Technology (ICT) support to administrative staff and the Council and assists in providing advice and implementing the appropriate strategic direction of Council ICT systems, including performance and processes.

In this role, you will be accountable for the following:
• Provide ICT helpdesk support to Council staff while establishing and portraying a professional image of the department at all times with a customer-focused ‘can do’ attitude.
• Maintain an understanding of the relevant technology, procedures and processes used in the communications department.
• Create and amend necessary support documentation to ensure known errors and troubleshooting guidance are recorded, assisting staff in the resolution of ICT issues, and ensure a foundation of appropriate technical knowledge.
• Maintaining physical security and good order in Data Centre and ICT working environments, ensuring all cabling is tidy and appropriately labelled, and any equipment alerts or faults identified in the environment are evaluated and dealt with appropriately.
• Maintain information security through equipment data wiping, ensuring disposals are dealt with in an appropriate manner to protect against data loss, including configuration wipes of any infrastructure equipment.
• Monitor trends, emerging issues, and best practices within local government to provide strategic and technical advice in the development and implementation of the Council’s ICT infrastructure.
• Provide strategic support and advice to all sections of the Shire on how to use ICT and emerging technologies most effectively, and work with staff to understand their data flows and operations to help identify where modern data management systems can assist with both efficiency and security.

To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in Information Technology or demonstrated experience. You will possess highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research issues, interpret, and analyse information. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft server systems and various network solutions, as well as practical knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems and Microsoft Office deployed within an enterprise environment. You will also have demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting hardware and software issues. This role will require excellent time management and prioritisation, with an appreciation of excellent customer service.
