The Shire of Exmouth runs the citizenship ceremonies on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs every three months at the Ningaloo Centre.

The conferees from 5 countries, including UK, New Zealand, Italy, Czech Republic and Switzerland, received their citizenship during a ceremony at the Function Centre in accordance with the requirements of the Australian Citizenship Ceremonies Code.

The ceremony was followed by light refreshments and the opportunity to take pictures with Councillors and other participants.

COMMENTS ATTRIBUTED TO THE SHIRE – SHIRE PRESIDENT MATT NIIKKULA

“Welcoming new Australians and performing the citizenship ceremony is without a doubt my favourite task as Shire President. When these new Australians make their citizenship pledge, it marks the final step on their journey to becoming an Australian and it is a great opportunity for all Australians, whether they are citizens by birth or by choice, to come together to acknowledge what’s great about being Australian.”

“Our small community is a great testament to a multicultural Western Australia and welcoming these diverse conferees is second to none. The ceremony is the final step to becoming an Australian citizen, it’s a life-long commitment to Australia’s values of freedom, democracy, equality and respect.”
