Three local organisations will share $4,500 funding to support activities and events that promote increased engagement and participation in community life and improve health and wellbeing outcomes for local residents.

Announcing the successful applicants for the Shire of Exmouth’s Community and Sporting Grants program, Shire President Matthew Niikkula said Council was thrilled to be able to support worthwhile projects that would provide long lasting community benefits.

“I’ve lived in Exmouth all my life and you cannot undervalue the role that community and sporting organisations play in our community,” he said. “They really are the heart and soul of the town, providing important places for people to meet and participate in activities of shared interest, whether that be mountain bike riding, bingo or painting. They promote social connectedness and healthy lifestyles and are vital in maintaining the sense of community that Exmouth residents so highly value.

“The Community and Sporting Grants program is a practical way for council to support projects and activities that enhance the sustainability and vitality of our not-for-profit sector and support local volunteers.”
