EXMOUTH BIKE PARK OFFICIALLY OPENED

Published on Friday, 29 April 2022 at 4:40:06 PM

The Exmouth Bike Park was opened yesterday, with interested spectators on the sidelines and more than 80 riders of all ages testing the facility.

The Cape Range Riders, the local mountain bike club, assisted the excited children with their first runs on the course.

The new Bike Park is proudly sponsored by Woodside and Mitsui E&P Australia highlighting their commitment to delivering sustainable social outcomes in the communities they are part of. This funding builds on Woodside and Mitsui E&P Australia's support for the 2021 Gascoyne Games, which aimed to increase participation in sporting competitions in the Gascoyne and surrounding regional communities.

The Shire of Exmouth funded the development and planning of the facility, which was designed and constructed by Common Ground Trails. The Cape Range Riders, who have supported the development since its early stages, will now be able to facilitate the Exmouth Bike Park to run community-led programs in a safe environment.

The newly built facility is located within the Exmouth Recreational Precinct, a family-friendly area close to the town centre.

Situated between the Exmouth Community Garden and the Exmouth Tennis Club Courts, the facility emphasises Exmouth's outdoor-focused lifestyle and contributes to the area's vibrancy; creating an exceptional signature experience for a wide range of users, including children and youth, with users able to expand their skills through cycling.

"The Exmouth Bike Park ticks all the boxes for an active, outdoor-focussed lifestyle. We are excited to finally open this great facility, which Woodside and Mitsui E&P Australia proudly sponsored. The Exmouth Bike Park will enable riders of all ages and skill levels to enhance their capabilities and enjoy a thrilling outdoor activity."

"Especially in remote regional towns, recreational sporting activities are the main benefactor to the mental health and well-being of the community. Living in small remote locations sometimes means residents miss out on what children in the city and regional centre take for granted, so we are naturally excited to have such a wonderful facility available to our residents and visitors."
