The awardees were announced yesterday evening in Geraldton at the 2021 Perth Airport WA Regional Tourism Conference.

Exmouth won one of the prestigious award for the second year in a row, having been voted one of the top 10 Australian travel destinations earlier this year by wotif.

A field of 17 towns from across Western Australia has been named by a jury as finalists to fight in a public election for the 2021 Top Tourism and Small Tourism Town crown.

Exmouth pipped many larger towns and regional cities across the state to win an award. For the first time, the Gold winners of the GWN7 Top Tourism Town Award and GWN7 Small Tourism Town Award will go into a National competition to represent Western Australia with the chance to be crowned Australia's Top Tourism Town or Small Tourism Town.

“The GWN7 Top Tourism Town Awards recognise and reward towns in Western Australia that demonstrate a strong commitment to encouraging tourism and increasing visitation to their destination. Exmouth Council is proud to continuously improve the experiences of our visitors and defend our hard-earned place in the Top 3 of Western Australia's top tourism destinations."

"The Shire and Ningaloo Visitor Centre staff as well as all our dedicated local suppliers, operators and their staff made this possible. They are showcasing our special slice of paradise with every interaction, turning a simple visit into an unforgettable experience. This award belongs to everyone who makes Exmouth an outstanding destination, and we're looking very much forward to showcase this to the rest of Australia and the world."
