Project background
Council adopted significant changes to our rating strategy during the 2025/26 financial year, aiming to resolve inconsistencies and ensure our property rating policy is fair, transparent, and aligned with our community sustainability goals.
The Shire of Exmouth is now seeking community feedback on proposed differential rates and minimum payments for the upcoming financial year.
Proposed changes include
The proposal for 2026/27 includes a 4.9 per cent increase for residential properties.
- The average household increase will be less than $2.40 per week, or $124 per year.
- This increase equates to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of 4.6 per cent plus 0.3 per cent, which is consistent with the approach outlined in our Long-Term Financial Plan.

In accordance with Section 6.36 of the Local Government Act 1995, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River is now inviting public submissions on the proposed 2026-27 rates as set out in the table below
