Policies/Adopted Plans
Policy Manual
It is the policy of the Exmouth Shire Council to maintain a manual recording the various policies of the Council.
Policies are to relate to issues of an on-going nature, policy decisions on single issues are not to be recorded in the manual.
The objectives of the Council’s Policy Manual are:
- To provide Council with a formal written record of all policy decisions;
- To provide the staff with precise guidelines in which to act in accordance with Council's wishes;
- To enable the staff to act promptly in accordance with Council's requirements, but without continual reference to Council;
- To enable Councillors to adequately handle enquiries from electors without undue reference to the staff or the Council;
- To enable Council to maintain a continual review of Council Policy decisions and to ensure they are in keeping with community expectations, current trends and circumstances;
- To enable ratepayers to obtain immediate advice on matters of Council Policy.
The Policy Manual will be maintained in a loose-leaf binder and updated as and when a policy is varied by the Council.
Changes to Council Policy shall be made only on:
- Notice of motion, or
- An agenda item clearly setting out details of the amended policy.
Adopted Plans
In an endeavour to guide the future planning of the townsite of Exmouth the Shire formed a community based Townscape Advisory Committee and along with consultants Chris Antill and Sally Malone designed and formulated the Townscape Enhancement Plans & Design/Development Guidelines for adoption by Council.
The Shire of Exmouth adopted this document in April 2001 as a guide to future townscape enhancement for the Exmouth townsite.
The complete text of both the Townscape Plan and the Policy Manual are available in PDF format.
